The Strike 2 itself has made a new leap forwards for 2005. Like the Strike 1 it’s a medium aspect ratio, universal kite aimed at all levels of kiteboarder. A new feature is that it can be used with a 4 line set up with the option to upgrade to the new Flexifoil 5th line control system.
Fifth Line System
The 5th line introduces a new safety and relaunch system and creates a much wider wind window. It enables direct control of the angle of attack of the centre of the kite. This allows the kite to be setup so the kite will sit further forward in the window, extending the top end of the wind range. Flexifoil bars are an additional £149.00. Prices below are kite only.
Riders who like a ‘powerful feel’ or are trying to maximise kite power should not use the 5th line system. Riders who want a more vertical jump, with larger wind range and lighter bar pressure should use the 5th line system.
Performance Improvements
• Improved Hang Time.
• Thinner front tubes mean faster, lighter turning on larger sizes.
• Fatter front tubes produce a slower, more progressive turn on smaller sizes.
• More direct response from lighter bar pressure.
• All sizes have improved wind range.
• All sizes have improved stability.
• Larger variation between tip profile (turning area) and centre profiles (power zone)
maximises kite performance
• All sizes of Strike 2 have the option to be upgraded to the Flexifoil 5th line system.
Constructional Improvements
• Reinforced ‘Bombproof’ trailing edge reduces distortion and flapping which increases
long term durability.
• Kevlar reinforced batten pockets repositioned inside wing to reduce wear.
• Collapsible battens on larger sizes for easy storage and travelling
• Amsteel toggles can be concealed in batten pockets to reduce the chances of
‘snagging’ lines.
• Rigid Struts for optimum profile shape.
• Dacron reinforcements between sail and LE tube to reduce wear.
• Pump leash for easy pumping.
• Tip dump valve for fast solo packdown.
• One way strut valves with combined deflators enables high pressures required for a
stiff structure. This means reduced strut diameters which lead to improved turning
speed and direct handling.
• Hard wearing EVA patches.
• Foolproof Amsteel line attachments. |
